Registration Open for Orthodontic Diagnosis and Treatment Planning – Applied (Module 1B)

Orthodontic Diagnosis and Treatment Planning - Applied (Module 1B) is designed to focus on building the participant’s practical skills and emphasizes the importance of the cephalometric interpretation for case selection and management. It teaches participants how to take consistent dental photographs for their records, and also for marketing and social media purposes (as these photos are different). We use the fillable examination form to diagnose and treatment plan our cases and learn how [...]

A nice comment for our program from Eastern Europe

From Dr. Michaila. I left the syntax, the way I got it. It is more truthful than a translation. "I am working orthodontics my be 8 or 9 years.  A began like general dentist but at this moment I am working only orthodontics. I have always wanted to do this, the topics is difficult and interesting.  I have attended many courses over the years and think that some of the best are these from Dr. Mazor and Dr. Fiorelly. You want to explain "I am amazed by the pedantry with which you work". I have att [...]

Pure Intrusion of Lower Incisors (Video)

Lower incisors control is critical in orthodontics and it is sometimes overlooked for the sake of speed and "efficiency". Using a straight wire system and a round NiTi wire  may result in uncontrolled tipping and proclination of lower incisors which may compromise their periodontal health and affect incisor coupling at the end of treatment. This video presents simple to more complicated concepts to control the position of these incisors as efficiently as possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v [...]

Center of Rotation for Class II, Division 2 (Video)

In the case of retroclined incisors, correcting the upper incisors inclination with pure tipping may not be the best solution as a lot of overjet will be created, often  resulting in a prolonged treatment to further decompensate the malocclusion. Orthodontic biomechanics can help limit the amount of round tripping by positioning the upper incisor at the right position and inclination by moving the center of rotation at the right place. https://youtu.be/lSsryuxnOFY [...]

Incisor Control when Distalizing Upper Molars (Video)

I produced this simplistic (not fully accurate) video to explain the possibility to use attachments (optimized) to control the torque or labiolingual inclination of upper incisors during the force application. This is just a simplified concept as too many forces and moments are involved. https://youtu.be/6uvihgynJSE [...]

Module 2: Introduction to Biomechanics (Video)

In this module, we will discuss and introduce the practitioner to sound concepts of biomechanics which can be applied to fixed, removable, or aligner-based orthodontics. All these concepts, which are sometimes difficult to comprehend, are very important to design orthodontic appliances to optimize treatment and limit undesirable outcomes. One such concept is the determination of the center of rotation of moving teeth. Understanding this concept will help the practitioner better assess the amoun [...]

Orthodontic Bracketing (Video)

Bracketing as precisely as possible is a more complicated procedure than it appears. There are guidelines, but each case must be approached on its own merit. Orthodontics is not a one size fits all procedure, and great clinicians adapt their knowledge to each patient. The choice of bracket prescription, be it Roth or MBT, will be discussed in another post. All comments are welcome. https://youtu.be/mtieitp_oyc [...]
