In the case of retroclined incisors, correcting the upper incisors inclination with pure tipping may not be the best solution as a lot of overjet will be created, often  resulting in a prolonged treatment to further decompensate the malocclusion. Orthodontic biomechanics can help limit the amount of round tripping by positioning the upper incisor at the right position and inclination by moving the center of rotation at the right place.
