Creating an API to simplify the worflow to produce orthodontic aligners is of great importance to further enhance the implementation of this great technology. 3D direct printing will speed up the process while significantly increasing capabilities and improving outcomes. We are already in prototype stages and will hopefully create our first API soon.

An API (Application Programming Interface) is a digital connector that allows different orthodontic software systems to “talk” to each other and automatically share information.

Think of it like a universal adapter that lets your treatment planning software communicate with your 3D printer, your scanner, or your aligner manufacturer’s system – without you having to manually transfer files or re-enter data.

Practical example: When you scan a patient, the API allows that scan data to automatically flow into your treatment planning software, which then sends the treatment plan to the aligner manufacturing system, which communicates back with production status – all without you copying files or switching between multiple programs.

Why clinicians should care:

  • Eliminates manual data entry and file transfers
  • Reduces errors from copying information between systems
  • Saves time in your workflow
  • Enables integration of AI diagnostic tools with your existing software
  • Allows different technologies (scanners, printers, planning software) to work together seamlessly

In short: APIs are the behind-the-scenes technology that makes your digital orthodontic workflow smooth and integrated, rather than having isolated software islands that don’t communicate.
