In this module, we will discuss and introduce the practitioner to sound concepts of biomechanics which can be applied to fixed, removable, or aligner-based orthodontics.
All these concepts, which are sometimes difficult to comprehend, are very important to design orthodontic appliances to optimize treatment and limit undesirable outcomes.
One such concept is the determination of the center of rotation of moving teeth. Understanding this concept will help the practitioner better assess the amount of translation and the amount of rotation necessary to move teeth in a seamless and constant motion and avoid round tripping.
